April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music in the 7th grade when she started guitar and piano classes. April's very first song was called Different. She wrote it when she was 12 years old. She spent a lot of time when she was 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. She began writing alongside her father and her dad in NY and LA soon after. April began to include other relevant topics into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous clean beauty brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry with a huge following of her own. As a woman born with no left hand, Lockhart has a significant part to play in her. However, it's not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability in her posts on Instagram, however she doesn't make it the focus of the post. What is the message? There is more to us than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and we contain many different dimensions. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I am not convinced that my physical appearance will define my character. It's not my intention to influence disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my daily life. It's all normal, and I've learned to make adjustments. It's also part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Her journey to self-acceptance is one that can last for a long time, and she can be a role model with regard to this. She has had periods where she was uncomfortable dressing in certain styles that displayed her arms. She now wears whatever she likes. She also posts pictures on social media. Self-love, according to her, is a kind of journey. "I don't think you'll ever get there," she said. But, this isn't the case with anyone with doubts. It is important to have people in your life who know and understand your situation. They will be the ones asking what you worry about?
